Meet our Principal

Dr. Nicole Phillips Hollis is the Chief Executive Director/Principal for Bridge to Independence, Incorporated; a 501(c)(3) non- profit educational organization. Nicole PhillipsHollis is a native of Orlando, Florida, and a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Florida. On May 24,2024, Nicole Phillips Hollis was presented with an honorary doctorate degree from the Cornerstone University of Florida. She has 2 sons, who reside in the Orlando area. She is the author of “My Neighborhood Super Kids”. Hollis’ main objective is to improve the lives of children who live in the Orlando rural areas who suffer from a lack of success in the traditional classroom setting. This was achieved by implementation of a customized academic curriculum to fit the needs of students whose academic levels are below performance. Over the past few years, Bridge to Independence has developed an advanced curriculum for students whose academic levels are of advanced performance during the school year. In 2017 the school obtained accreditation from the Association of Independent Schools of Florida. Dr. Phillips Hollis has established several partnerships with the University of Central Florida, the Center for Research and Education in Arts, Technology and Entertainment (CREATE) to name a few. In 2018 City of Orlando District 5 funded/provided an audio class for BTI’s high school students. Also, in the year 2018 Edmentum software comprising of a digital curriculum Mathematics, English and Reading for all levels within the school K-12 was implemented. This digital curriculum allowed students to work at grade level and was also suitable for remediation. This allowed BTI to be fully prepared when in 2020 schools went virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Hollis’ most recent partnership took place in 2021 by establishing new dual enrollment partnerships with Valencia College and University of South Florida.

Dr. Phillips Hollis is passionate about education and developing the child to be a productive citizen.

Dr. Phillips Hollis was featured in the Orlando Business Journal in 2023 as a small business owner who had expanded her private school which will allow additional students at the new facility in November 2024. Dr. Phillips Hollis believes that “This will be transformative for the lives of children in our community.
